Just in: the official ranking of the most popular baby names in the USA for the year 2021.
| BOYS | GIRLS |
1 | Liam | Olivia |
2 | Noah | Emma |
3 | Oliver | Charlotte |
4 | Elijah | Amelia |
5 | James | Ava |
6 | William | Sophia |
7 | Benjamin | Isabella |
8 | Lucas | Mia |
9 | Henry | Evelyn |
10 | Theodore | Harper |
Liam and Olivia continue their reigns as America’s favorite names, with no challengers gaining on them. The biggest news is in the boys’ top 10, where Theodore makes its first-ever appearance. Even back when Theodore Roosevelt was president, the name never approached such a lofty ranking. With Charlotte and Amelia climbing for girls, the top of the charts has a long and antique slant.
Meanwhile William, a classic which had maintained its popularity in part due to the option of using Liam as a nickname, fell out of the top 5 for the first time since 2008.
